Hello Dr. Badar, this is Shelly Klassy. You performed gastric bypass surgery on me on March 4th of this year. I have so far lost 104 pounds and am nearing my goal weight of 130 pounds, just 19 to go. I have attached three pictures for you to see. The first one is before I had surgery so you remember how overweight I was and two others of how I look now. I have some loose skin only under my arms going round to my breasts and think this could be taken care of with some plastic surgery in about 12 months. I do plan on coming back to India to have that and some other facial work done.

I can not thank you and your kind staff enough for literally giving me my life back. If you wish to use my pictures in any way, please feel free to do so. I will send some more at 12 months and hope to give you the good news that I am at goal weight and that I have kept it off.

Regards
Shelly Klassy

All co-morbidities resolved, patient off medication

The style quotient of the society that I live in is very high.  For years I moved in my social circle feeling frumpy and unattractive, divorced from the fashion world, and with a permanent desire to look different and look better.

It was by sheer chance that I met one of Dr. Badar's patients and we got talking about weight issues.  I could not believe that his life-long struggle with weight had ended after undergoing bariatric surgery.

To cut a long story short, I went in for Sleeve Gastrectomy and it changed my life!  This has turned out to be one of the most difficult but ultimately one of the best decisions of my life.

Not once, in the last one year since I underwent the surgery,  have I regretted my decision.  Even thought for the first 3-4 months after surgery I found it quite difficult to adjust with my reduced food intake, the results made it worth while.

The reason I have happily given my photographs for this website is because I feel no one should to go through the trauma of obesity.

All co-morbidities resolved

Since my teenage years I had been struggling with my weight.  Several times I lost good amounts of weight after working myself to the bone at the gym and following strict diets.  Unfortunately, as soon as I let go of my strict discipline (nobody can live like that all their life), all the weight that I had lost after months of mind-boggling self control and  hard work, would simply come back.

This cycle of weight loss and weight gain was deeply traumatising and I realised that I would have to lose weight permanently if I wanted to maintain my physical and psychological health.  That is when I decided to undergo Bariatric Surgery (Sleeve Gastrectomy).

My struggle with weight is a thing of past now.  I feel mentally and physically fit and I lead a very active and energetic life.  I play badminton and am a good and active parent to my boys.  My life has changed in more ways than I can describe.

The reason I have happily given my photographs for this website is because I feel no one needs to go through the trauma of obesity and if finding out about bariatric surgery changes even a few lives I will be very happy.

Today, having lost more than 50 kgs, I have been born again. This is my second life.

Diabetes, on insulin, hypertension, snoring, knee pain, low-back pain

Stopped insulin, diabetes

totally resolved, all other problems resolved
At 162 kgs, I had no life.  I found it difficult to walk, move and work.  My whole life was taken over by my weight problem.  In even the smallest decisions I had to take, weight was always my first consideration.  Holiday, movies, festivals, official work - in each and everything I was always worried about how I would fit in physically and socially.  But what hurt me the most was

When I found out about bariatric surgery, I spent months researching on the internet. I spoke to several people about various kinds of obesity surgery, the one that would suit my requirements and the best place to get it done.  The fact was that after years of health problems I was afraid to undergo even the smallest medical procedure.

As luck would have it, I found out that one of the best bariatric surgeons in India was actually living and working in my own town.  I checked out his credentials, spoke to the doctor himself and met a few of his patients.  When I was finally convinced enough to go for the surgery.

Today, having lost more than 50 kgs, I have been born again. This is my second life. I an enjoying myself to the hilt and finally I am catching up with myself and my near and dear ones.

I have lost 37 Kg, my diabetes is completely resolved, I am off diabetes medicines, and my joint pain has vanished.

I am 58 years old and I suffered from multiple health problems.  Along with my weight, joint pain and diabetes completely ruled my life.  My family was also getting affected because of my ill health.  Finally my family doctor referred me to Dr Ahsan Badar.  I didn't want to go in for the surgery, because I was afraid of taking such a big step.  My family knew that if I didn't do something about my weight soon, I wouldn't live long and so they convinced me to agree for the surgery.

Today I am thankful to my family for having convinced me to go in for the surgery.  I have lost 37 Kg, my diabetes is completely resolved and I am off drugs, and my joint pain has vanished.

Now, back in Sri Lanka, I find that I have several improvements in my health conditions and of course, I still seek his advice on the telephone and e-mail.

I underwent Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric Band surgery on 24 December 2009 at Nagpur in India. This decision was taken by me, as I was suffering from sleep Apnea and other obesity related multiple medical problems.

The surgery was performed by Dr Ahsan Badar, Consultant Laparoscopic and Bariatric Surgeon. I wish to place on record the excellent job done by this Surgeon and I was able to return to my country within just 3 days after surgery and as I was back to normal within a very short period.

I must also express my gratitude to Dr Badar, not only for his dedicated service and tremendous commitment shown during my stay in the Nagpur Hospital, but also for the personal attention and courtesies shown at all times.

Now, back in Sri Lanka, I find that I have several improvements in my health conditions and of course, I still seek his advice and guidance on the telephone, e-mail etc.

I am happy that I had the good fortune to be able to get the services from a Surgeon of Dr Badar’s caliber.

I wish him all success in his future endeavours.
